Hue and Cry undoubtedly appeals more to children than adults. The main characters are a group of boys who discover that a comic paper is used by crooks to transmit secret codes. The boys decide to do something about it.
Hue and Cry has both humour and thrills, but the plotline seems a bit thin and the pace is slow, which is also due to the age of the film.
