The Truman Show is an intelligent and thought-provoking media satire about insurance salesman Truman Burbank who has unknowingly been the star of a popular TV-show since he was adopted by a television company as a baby.
In the idyllic provincial town of Seahaven Truman is the only person who is for real. Even his wife and his best friend are actors. 5000 cameras in Seahaven register Truman's every move, which is broadcasted live around the clock.
Truman has never suspected that his world is a fake one until several technical glitches suddenly occur one after the other.
Andrew Niccol who also scripted and directed "Gattaca" is responsible for the original plot, which criticizes the cynicism of the media in a very funny way.
