The Avengers is yet another adaptation of an American TV-series, but in contrast to many of its predecessors such as "Mission" and "The Flintstones" this film is a total failure.
The Avengers is a (granted) visually marvelous story about special agents John Steed and Emma Peel, who team up to fight the powerful Sir August De Wynter. He is in possession of a machine that makes it possible for him to manipulate the weather all over the globe. Worse, his intentions are not exactly good.
The muddled story, the superficial tone, and the weird kind of ironic humour that is not funny at all are the most obvious characteristics of the film. I felt so indifferent to the story that I did not really care if the hero and heroine would survive.
