Sphere is a technically accomplished sci-fi about a small group of scientists who become the centre of a top secret mission. At the bottom of the Pacific a spaceship has been found. It has not crashed recently; in fact it has been in the ocean for several hundreds of years! When the scientists explore the enigmatic spaceship, they find a huge sphere. Anyone who enters the sphere returns unaffected, but what they do not know is that from that moment the sphere can manipulate his or her mind, not to work miracles, but to make nightmares come true.
The Sphere has much in common with other horror sci-fis such as "Alien", "Event Horizon", "Leviathan" and especially "The Abyss". In other words, the film does not contribute much to the genre that we have not seen in the above-mentioned films. Still, it is an effective scare!
