Mifunes sidste sang (Mifune) is also known as "Dogma 3". It is not so provoking in either form or content as its predecessors, "Festen" ("The Celebration") and "Idioterne" ("The Idiots"), but it has got something in common with "Dogma I and II": it has received favourable reviews and coveted prizes.
Kresten is a successful young businessman who has just married the boss' daughter. Kresten is not very proud of his family background and his past, so he pretends not to have one. As it turns out, Kresten cannot run away from his past. The day after the wedding Kresten is told that his father has just died. He has to return to the family farm where he has not set foot for years. Not only must he deal with the practicalities; he also has to find out what to do with his mentally handicapped brother Rud. He advertises for a housekeeper, and shortly after Liva, an ex-callgirl is installed. Just like Kresten she does not want anyone to know about her past, but how long can she keep it a secret?
Mifunes sidste sang is an engaging love story, a comedy and a drama at the same time. It is impossible not to be affected by this warm-hearted film and its characters, who are very credible exactly because of all their shortcomings.
