Judge Dredd is yet another adaption of a comic book, but it is not one that I am acquainted with.
Judge Dredd takes place in the future after nuclear wars have turned all of the earth's surface into barren land. People have crowded into a few cities where law and order is upheld by the judges. They are policemen, jury and judge united in one person. Judge Dredd is one of the best judges, so everybody thinks until Dredd is sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a reporter and his wife. Dredd has been the victim of a conspiracy, but he is not dealt with that easily.
Judge Dredd mixes comedy and violence in a way that borders on tastelessness. Except for the futuristic universe this is not intelligent sci-fi action, but it is entertaining.
