Zorba the Greek is a powerful and compelling drama about the friendship between Basil, a young reserved English writer, and Zorba, a vigorous and spirited Greek. From his father Basil has inherited a mine in Crete so he goes there to see if he can get the mine running. This is where he becomes acquainted with Zorba.
A major theme is the meeting between two very different cultures. The inexperienced Basil learns a lot from Zorba and his stay in the island.
Zorba the Greek is an unforgettable film with its beautiful visuals and Mikis Theodorakis' famous score.
