Billy Bathgate is a gangster drama based on E. L. Doctorow's novel.
Billy Bathgate is a poor teenager from the Bronx who idolizes the Jewish gangster Dutch Schultz, an actual historical figure, who was killed in 1935. When Billy becomes the protegé of Dutch, he is introduced to a life he has never dared dream about, but there is another side of the coin: the violence and the murders.
Loren Dean is inconspicuous and not expressive enough as Billy Bathgate. Is it supposed to be a secret what he thinks and feels?
